Downtown Loft

After living in a converted full floor loft in New York’s Chelsea area for nearly twenty years, the owners decided it was time to give the premises a make-over, fix the squeaky floors and add modern amenities such as recessed lighting, central audio and central air conditioning.

The entire loft was gutted down to its shell, windows were replaced and the wood floor joists were all reinforced and levelled. The master bedroom, bathroom and closet were reconfigured for a true ensuite arrangement.  In order to let light into the center of the floor and expand the visual feel of the convertible bedroom/home office, a custom steel and glass wall was constructed to enclose the space.  When the occasional guest spends the night, drapery can be drawn to fully screen the room.

A warm tone wood floor runs continuously throughout the apartment to tie all the spaces together exquisitely.
